Santa Clara Homes in Cupertino School District

I recently did an evaluation of homes that are located in the City of Santa Clara and that are located in the Cupertino school district. Cupertino school district is well known for its school system. People are willing to spend more money on a home in the district because scores in the Cupertino school district are so much higher than scores in surrounding cities. What I found was that an average home in the 95050 or 95051 of 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and 1700sf would sell for approximately $600,000 give or take a few dollars depending on condition. That same size home in average condition located in the City of Santa Clara but in the Cupertino school district could sell for as much as 15% to 20% more. There is a pocket of homes that are located on one side of Pruneridge from Lawrence Expressway all the way down to San Tomas expressway and bordered on the other side by Stevens Creek Blvd.
Private schools can be very expensive and if a family pays an average of $10,000 per year per child for private school then that can cost them as much as $120,000 or more per child from 1st grade through high school. Paying an extra 15% to 20% to buy a home in the Cupertino school district doesn’t look so bad when you can justify it by the savings in education costs per child by going to public school instead of private school.
